Experience
Ray has practiced law in Indiana for thirty-five years and has served as both an Indiana Deputy Attorney General and Montgomery County Deputy Prosecuting attorney. Ray was elected Judge of the Montgomery County Court in 1985 serving eighteen years. Upon his retirement from the bench, he became a trust office with Community Trust and Investment Company. Ray joined Taylor, Chadd, Minnette, Schneider & Clutter, P.C., in 2006 focusing in the areas of arbitration, probate and estate administration and family law. Ray’s additional roles include public arbitration for FINRA and Indiana Senior Judge.
Education & Memberships
Ray received both his B.A. in 1974 and J.D. in 1981 from Indiana University. He has been a member of the Indiana Bar and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana since 1981. He is a graduate of the National Judicial College and Indiana Judicial College. He is a current member of the Indiana Judge’s Association, Indiana Bar Association and American Bar Association.
Family & Community Involvement
Ray and his wife, Nancy, have three daughters and three grandsons. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church. Passionate about serving his community, he has held various leadership positions in the Montgomery County Chapter of the American Red Cross, Crawfordsville Public Library Building and Preservation Corporation, Family Crisis Shelter and Christian Nursing Service. He also volunteers his time as alumnus advisor to the undergraduate chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Wabash College. He is active in Democratic Party politics and served as Crawfordsville City Councilman at Large for five years.
